I’ve decided to join the bandwagon, and start a weblog/journal. I thought about using a service like LiveJournal.com, but decided that it wasn’t for me. I like to have control over everything no matter how small or silly. I also didn’t like the idea of having my private thoughts stored on someone else’s computer. After reading (skimming actually) the license agreement, I decided it definitely wasn’t for me.

This site probably will not be of interest to many people. It is more for myself than anyone else. I figure that I may keep a better journal if I can type it rather than handwrite it. This way I can also share it with other people if I choose. Someday I think I may set up a pass word so that I can restrict who views what. That would be fun. For now I still have to get it configured so that it looks the way I want it.

There is (as you may well know) no shortage of blog software in any language and with any feature set that you can conceive of. Why then did I choose Blosxom? Three main reasons. The first is that it is written in perl which I already know so I don’t have to learn anything else. Second because it is very small. I don’t need anything fancy. Just enough for my own use. I wanted to be able to grok the whole thing in one sitting. Third, its free as in speech.
